Steven Turner Returns to National League with Woking
Ipswich Town’s young midfielder, Steven Turner, has rejoined Woking on loan for the upcoming 2026/27 season. The 20-year-old spent the second half of last campaign at Woking alongside his fellow Ipswich Blue, Tommy Taylor.
Turner, who has been with Ipswich Town since he was seven years old, participated in the club’s pre-season training camp in La Manga and featured in a friendly match against Spanish side FC Cartagena. His return to Woking is seen as an opportunity for him to continue his development and gain more first-team experience.
Managerial Changes and Turner's Arrival
Following the recent departure of head coach Jermaine Defoe, Woking currently has Jake Hyde and Craig Ross serving as interim managers. Despite these changes, the club remains optimistic about Turner’s potential impact on the team.
Woking director of football Jody Brown expressed his delight at bringing Turner back to the club: 'We’d always hoped to bring Steven back after he impressed us in April. He's spent pre-season with their first team, but the dialogue never stopped. We are really pleased to have him here for the season.'
Turner himself is enthusiastic about returning to Woking: 'I’m delighted to be back,' he said. 'I really enjoyed my time here last year and it was clear straight away what a great club this is. After speaking with the staff, I knew this was the right place for me to continue my development and get regular first-team football.'
