Woking have had a major attendance restriction lifted by Surrey County Council. The National League club can now welcome bigger crowds back to the Laithwaite Community Stadium after completing required safety improvements.
The capacity had been cut in half, from around 6,000 to just 3,000, back in April due to health and safety concerns. Work carried out over the summer included installing comprehensive CCTV coverage, hiring a security firm with football experience, and retraining stewards. These measures were tested during the Cards' season-opening league match against Sutton United, allowing the council to remove the limit this week.
A club statement confirmed the development. "Safety will remain a key priority for the club, and we are committed to maintaining and continually improving the standards and procedures we have put in place," it said.
