Woking forward Josh Ayres has joined National League South side Walton & Hersham on an initial one-month loan. The move is designed to provide the young attacker with competitive game time while he continues to train with his parent club.
Woking director of football Jody Brown outlined the thinking behind the temporary switch. "Josh has some really strong attributes and his ceiling is high," Brown said. "Regular playing time will only help him to reach that." He noted that Ayres had featured earlier in the season and shown promise in getting into good scoring positions.
Brown explained the structure of the deal. "This loan allows him to still train with us, while getting valuable game time in the level below," he said. The director of football believes the spell offers a great opportunity for Ayres to play six or seven matches and put himself back in contention at Woking.
The move comes as Woking sit 15th in the National League, having taken 15 points from their opening 12 games. Their recent form reads two wins, two draws and one defeat from the last five outings. Fans can track the squad's composition and the latest standings as the season progresses. The club has wished Ayres well for his time at Walton & Hersham.
